The world is amidst profound transformations, from constant geopolitical tensions to climate crises, amid the rise of artificial intelligence. Recent events underscore the fundamental role of Government Technology (GovTech) in rebuilding trust, fostering inclusion, and achieving sustainable development goals.
In the complexity of today’s governments, where trust and efficiency are paramount, GovTech emerges as a transformative force. As nations face the challenges of the digital era, strategic alliances and innovative solutions are essential to shape the future of governance.
GovTech, understood as the application of digitization and emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), IoT tools, advanced detection, blockchain, and advanced data processing at the government level, would enhance public services, making them more efficient, effective, and accessible to citizens, reducing costs, and creating new public value.
The 54th edition of the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos – Klosters, Switzerland, held from January 15 to 19 under the theme “Rebuilding Trust,” was a crucial space for collaboratively addressing urgent global issues. It emphasized the need for visionary and adaptable leadership to navigate complexities, promote significant changes, and focus on fundamental principles that drive trust, transparency, coherence, and accountability in governments.
In the face of these concerns and challenges, the role of leadership in this ever-changing environment was a top priority at this meeting. The importance of collaboration to accelerate GovTech development was highlighted, with Germany and Ukraine playing key roles in recognizing the potential of GovTech to revolutionize public service delivery.
At the heart of GovTech is the mission to empower citizens through innovation. Leveraging digitization and emerging technologies, GovTech plays a crucial role in addressing complex social challenges while ensuring inclusion and accessibility for all. The establishment of the Global Government Technology Center (GGTC) in Berlin, in collaboration with the World Economic Forum and GovTech Campus Deutschland, underscores a concerted effort to catalyze public sector innovation, focusing on digital transformation and citizen engagement.
A similar project was announced by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine to establish a GovTech Center in Kiev, focusing on government digital transformation, e-government development, and widespread digital literacy.
The intersection of IoT and AI technologies with government policies presents a unique opportunity to drive sustainable development. In smart cities, urban areas leverage technologies to optimize traffic, improve energy efficiency, and enhance public safety, making them more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable.
In rural areas, the IoT/AI alliance facilitates agricultural optimization, addresses environmental challenges, and labor shortages, contributing to economic growth and food security. GovTech encompasses the application of various technological tools to address public challenges such as digital public infrastructure (service payments) or the provision of government services such as health, welfare, education, and security, among others.
One key takeaway from the World Economic Forum meeting is that government leaders, particularly in the GovTech space, must adopt a people-centered perspective rather than a technology-centered one, ensuring that these technological models are understandable and usable. Technological implementation will be successful if governments actively listen and respond to citizens’ needs. Therefore, collaborative efforts between technology providers, governments, and citizens will be effective as long as the needs are understood to jointly deliver impactful public outcomes.

AZLOGICA® has excelled in innovation in supporting public entities. In 2019, the Colombian National Police purchased around 1400 Renault Duster vehicles from the automotive company Renault to renew its patrol fleet. Through collaborative work with AZLOGICA®, these vehicles were equipped with an integrated mobile video system, controlled and managed from the National Police’s telematics center under the AZLOGICA® Evolution® control and management platform. The system included early alert tools with AI algorithms, allowing the management of video from these patrols with a minimal workforce, streamlining security management or citizen support.
In the same year, in collaboration with Allianz Seguros, AZLOGICA® implemented an online management system for the fleet and workforce of EMCALI, one of the most important public utility companies in Latin America. The innovative system not only simplified technical services but also optimized operations through intuitive visualization applications and early alert features.
Another success story for AZLOGICA® occurred during the COVID pandemic when it developed a version of its Team Manager® solution called TM-CoV2. Offered for free, TM-CoV2 aimed to help companies manage, optimize, and control their operations and production cycles while ensuring proper verification of compliance with biosecurity protocols. TM-CoV2 could cater to various sectors, primarily healthcare personnel, health professionals (doctors, nurses, therapists, etc.), support personnel such as police, armed forces, security companies, transportation, distribution of medical, hospital, and food supplies, among others.
